Foot in blogging mouth?

I don't know. I'm feeling pretty shitty for making fun of people who don't know how to drive in snow when something like this happens.

Tragic.

I know. They just had a news report on tv here & confirmed that he died of exposure & hypothermia. He walked over 10 miles trying to get help for his family. He was just trying to save them. Now I gotta cry again.

What you were talking about what completely different. That pass, which is technically closed in winter, did not have the gates up at either end of the road indicating the road was impassible. Which it was. The Oregonian had a story about a guy who had just barely gotten through the day before those folks went in.

I don't know if that story got the same coverage in WA that it got here in Oregon, but every time I think about that family my stomach knots up with sadness.

It's always like that on the first day of a big snowfall and most people here tend to know how to drive on ice. There's always plenty of cars in the ditch that first day though until we get our snow legs back.
